Brute.jpg

I just devoured Brute, a poetry collection by Emily Skaja, 2018 Walt Whitman award winner, chosen by Joy Harjo for its “elegiac howl to the end of a relationship.” Truly, lines like paper cuts.

In my history, I was bones eating paper
or I was paper eating bones. Semantics.

First line. First poem. ** Highly recommend. **
